Six HOVERLA’s Partner Communities will Receive more than Five Million Euros for Environmental Development
On April 19, the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027 Cross-Border Cooperation Program announced the winners that will receive funding for environmental projects. As a result, six USAID HOVERLA Activity partner communities from Lviv, Rivne, and Volyn Oblasts will be able to implement the projects for EUR 5 million.
Here are the projects which the communities plan to implement in partnership with Polish municipalities:
- Brody community (Lviv Oblast) will build the "Stanislavchyk" Modular Safety Center in partnership with the Euroregion Carpathians Ukraine (€500,000) and reconstruct water treatment facilities in the city (€1 million).
- Dobrotvir community (Lviv Oblast) will purchase specialized garbage trucks and install 18 waste sorting stations (€1 million).
- Horodok community (Lviv Oblast) will restore the park and plant more greenery (€400,000).
- Hoshcha community (Rivne Oblast) jointly with other three communities will purchase equipment for voluntary firefighting teams (€672,500).
- Klesiv community (Rivne Oblast) will replace water treatment and sewage facilities, implement automated water consumption monitoring, and study European water resource management practices (€1.3 million).
- Kivertsi community (Volyn Oblast) will enhance safety in combating natural disasters and climate threats together with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (€600,000)
To prepare communities for the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027 competition, the USAID HOVERLA Activity conducted a series of trainings during 2023 - 2024. This March, 40 communities learned how to prepare efficient applications.
HOVERLA supports the Ministry of Restoration’s efforts in enhancing the capacity of communities in attracting funding, building international partnerships, economic development, and improving the quality of life for their residents.
