Vinnytsia and Karlsruhe to cooperate in several areas

Vinnytsia agreed with the German city of Karlsruhe on cooperation in medicine, public utility infrastructure and culture.

This was announced by Serhii Morhunov, Mayor of Vinnytsia.

According to him, the delegation of the Vinnytsia City Council paid a working visit to the city of Karlsruhe, where they discussed the issue of twinning relations between the cities.

Serhii Morhunov also mentioned the plans for student exchanges and internship programmes for young professionals as part of the cooperation.

“We appreciate the support of Karlsruhe in this difficult time for us. We are moving further on the path to twinning,” the Vinnytsia Mayor wrote on social media.

In March, the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine initiated the International Marathon of Local Governments aimed at drawing the attention of municipalities around the world to the tragedy of Ukrainian municipalities and boosting the process of establishing sisterly relations.

Previously, Viacheslav Nehoda, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territorial Development, stressed that the Ministry for Communities and Territorial Development welcomes every step towards new sisterly relations between Ukrainian and foreign municipalities. He believes that building such relations will be mutually beneficial, given that Ukrainian municipalities have gained valuable experience in providing vital functions of the territories in wartime.
