The work on the development of hromadas, rayons, regions should be consistent, and each development strategy should be based on spatial planning, emphasised Vyacheslav Nehoda, First Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services, during the meeting of the Regional Development Council of the Vyzhnytsia Rayon in the Chernivtsi Oblast.
“Local economic development should be built on the basis of the competitive advantages of territories. And inventory of assets, carried out by hromadas, rayons, regions, will necessarily crystallise something unique for the territory and can serve as the basis for development strategy elaboration. Everyone is interested in investments, business development, jobs creation – all this should be enshrined in strategies and plans for their implementation. But even the best strategy risks failing, if it does not rely on complex spatial planning,” said Vyacheslav Nehoda.
He focused on the need to locally implement those projects that will solve existing problems.
“It is definitely necessary to cover the roof of a club or to set flowerbeds. But who will need clubs and flowerbeds, if people leave their homes in search of work and quality services? However, powerful projects, which will gradually solve such complex tasks, will be able to overcome less essential, yet also important people’s needs,” said the First Deputy Minister.
Vyacheslav Nehoda urged active representatives of the Vyzhnytsia Rayon not to outstretch preparation of the rayon development strategy, apply existing best practices in elaboration of the document in order to launch concrete projects as soon as possible. He assured that in this work, MinRegion will be a reliable and supportive partner of Bukovyna, including for the Vyzhnytsia Rayon.
It should be mentioned that on 17 December, Vyacheslav Nehoda, First Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services, was on his working visit to the Chernivtsi Oblast, where he held a series of events on the implementation of a new regional policy, decentralisation and mountainous areas’ development.
