Youth policy in decentralisation conditions discussed in Zaporizhzhia Oblast

The Zaporizhzhia Local Government Development Centre, established with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme and MinRegion, hosted a seminar on “Youth Policy in the Context of Decentralisation”.

“Decentralisation affects all spheres of hromada life,” noted Askad Ashurbekov, decentralisation adviser of the Zaporizhzhia LGDC. “Youth policy is an important issue that needs special attention, because the future of hromadas, their activity and development depend on how well it will be implemented today.”

“Youth is a resource that enables hromadas’ development,” continued Nataliya Vlasova, head of the Youth, Physical Culture and Sports Department of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast State Administration. “If you do not pay attention at youth today, then tomorrow you will not find young people in villages. And it is almost impossible to return those, who have already left. It is better to try to create the conditions to keep young people on the territory. And we do not have to wait for the youth to come to us, we ourselves should approach young people, make a partnership.”
