Garbage gap: how should hromadas handle waste?

Vyacheslav Sorokovskyi, public services and monitoring expert of the Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralisation Support in Ukraine” (DESPRO), described how to handle waste in Ukraine on the example of the Tulchyn cluster.

In 2011, the Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralisation Support in Ukraine” (DESPRO) decided to show how to reach the European model of waste management through hromadas’ cooperation. For five years, DESPRO specialists were creating a unique system in the Tulchyn Rayon, which amongst other issues includes a landfill constructed according to the state standards. Vyacheslav Sorokovskyi, public services and monitoring expert of the Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralisation Support in Ukraine” (DESPRO), told decentralisation.gov.ua how the project is currently working and whether its experience is spreading across Ukraine.
