The French city of Cannes and the Ukrainian city of Lviv officially became sister cities.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy announced this on a social network.
“On March 7, when Russian troops were near Kyiv, and Lviv received tens of thousands of IDPs every day, he was one of the first foreign politicians who was not afraid to personally come to Ukraine with an offer of help. It is an honor for me to accept the proposal of the President of the Association of Mayors of French Cities and the Mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard, to establish partnership relations between Lviv and Cannes,” wrote Andriy Sadovy.
In March, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine initiated the International Marathon of Local Self-Government, aimed at drawing the attention of the world's municipalities to the tragedy of Ukrainian municipalities and activating the process of establishing sisterly relations.
In the coming days, MinRegion plans to launch the “Partnership for Recovery and Development”, which is being developed together with international technical assistance projects, on the Decentralization portal. It is planned that the platform will become not only informative, but also an auxiliary tool for local self-government bodies in the search for and establishment of sister relations with foreign municipalities. Please follow the announcements on the portal.
