On the annual assessment of starostas’ activity. Part 1

Law of Ukraine №1638-ІХ as of 14.07.2021 having come into force, starostas have been excluded from the list of officials that are not subject to attestation. It means that since 01.08.2021 starostas have been covered by the regulation, under which: «For the purpose of assessing the competence and professional skills, as well as the qualification of local self-government officials, except for the persons, defined in part 2 of the article, once on four years officials of local self-government shall be subject to attestation» (part 1 of article 17 of Law of Ukraine On Service in Local Self-Government Bodies – hereinafter Law №2493-ІІІ).

Taking into account having to be subject to attestation once in four years, starostas have a lot of questions. The article by Oleksandr Vrublevskyi, an expert on the starosta’s activity and municipalities’ cooperation, contains answers to all those questions.
