On January 1, 2020, the Electoral Code of Ukraine (the Law No396-IX dated 19/12/2019) entered into force stipulating several innovations in holding local elections. Thus, unless the law changes in the nearest future, the elections of the local councils and hromada heads will be held by the new rules. The analytical centre of the Association of Ukrainian Cities provided a brief overview of the main innovations.
