951 amalgamated hromadas have already been established in Ukraine within the frame of the decentralisation reform, stated Alyona Babak, Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, during the "Hromada for Everyone" conference in Kyiv, the Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"There are 951 amalgamated hromadas in Ukraine. 6,572 territorial communities are in the transition process. There are still more than 10 million people who need to go this way,” Babak said.
The Minister added that the map of Ukraine with hromada at the basic level of the administrative and territorial structure should be formed next year.
"This is to happen next year, we need to see the omnipresence of local self-government represented by capable and powerful hromadas. Those 6,572 communities are actually going to be part of new AHs next year, and we should reach an amount of about 1400 AHs," she added.
Babak stressed that the new government would certainly continue to implement the local self-government reform as one of its priorities.
