The Government of Ukraine has approved and is ready to launch a large-scale programme for the development of local roads, including the use of technologies of cement-concrete coating, which is being manufactured in Ukraine, from the next construction season, informed Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman at a Governmental meeting.
We recall that such a programme has been announced this week by the Head of Government during his business trip to the Zhytomyr Oblast, where the section of the M-06 route is being built according to the "T-concrete" technology.
“From 2017, we have started to restore roads between oblast centeres in order to unite them. We increase funding every year. But there is an issue regarding roads between rayon centers – these are roads of local importance. They have not been repaired for decades. Every year the holes are patched, but it does not help any more. We have decided to create a recovery programme for these roads and today we endorse the decision. We tie oblast centres with high-quality roads and we will tie rayon centres with high-quality roads as well,” said Volodymyr Groysman. “From the next construction season, we will continue to build oblast roads and will go one level below – to rayon roads. This is a system approach.”
The strategy for the renovation of territorial motorways was presented by Slavomir Novak, head of the State Highways Agency. He stressed that restoration of local roads in itself is a big boost to the economy. And this effect is compounded by the fact that road building components are manufactured in Ukraine. And this means additional workplaces and additional opportunities for industry development.
“I want people to quickly feel that there is work being done at the local level,” said Volodymyr Groysman.
