According to the “Uryadovyi Portal”, the Government approved the draft Additional Agreement No. 1 between the Government of Ukraine and the European Commission, acting on behalf of the European Union, on the amendments to the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the European Commission, acting on behalf of the European Union, on the financing of U-LEAD with Europe: Ukraine – Local Empowerment, Accountability and Development Programme..
The signing of this international agreement will allow increasing the share of EU financing (by EUR 5.03 million) and the total sum of financing of the Agreement measures – up to EUR 101 million (of which the EU contribution is EUR 95 million and that of Germany – EUR 6 million).
Assistance will be provided through two components:
Strengthening the capacity to implement the decentralisation and regional policy reforms (to be implemented by GIZ);
Establishment of effective Administrative Service Centres and increase of citizens’ awareness of local self-government (to be implemented by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
Stepan Kubiv, First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine was authorised to sign the above-mentioned Agreement.
