Hromadas of Zhytomyr Oblast implement territory development experience of Polish gminas

The Bilokorovytska AH plans to open a Centre to work with elderly people, following the example of the Gmina Gościeradów of the Lublin Voivodship in Poland. In July, Serhiy Kotsur, head of the AH, with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme, visited several Polish gminas as part of a study visit.

“We have a significant percentage of retired population, and having questioned these people, we realised that there is a need to arrange leisure, rehabilitation, training and sustainable communication for them. We have already seen in the Gmina Gościeradów, how to implement this initiative,” said Serhiy Kotsur.

“The trip was aimed at presenting the experience of Polish local self-government in the field of economic development of territories. We were shown successful projects and practices, and also discussed examples of failures and miscalculations. This experience is valuable, as Polish gminas have already passed the stages of development that we just start to introduce,” said Dmytro Klymenko, communications adviser of the Zhytomyr Local Government Development Centre, established with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme and MinRegion.
