The Memorandum on cooperation and partnership regarding implementation of the EU technical assistance project of “Apple Path” Cluster, that initiates the further development of the Severynivska and Barska AHs, namely in the tourism sector, was signed on 11 July at the press centre of the Department of Information Activity and Public Communications of the Oblast State Administration.

Implementation of the “Apple Path” Cluster project has begun in the Barska and Severynivska amalgamated hromadas of the Vinnytsia Oblast with the financial and methodic support of the EU.

An idea became a reality due to expert assistance of the Vinnytsia Local Government Development Centre (U-LEAD with Europe Programme) and South-Western Hub of GIZ. And implementation became possible within the programme “Mayors for Economic Growth” (M4EG), a new EU initiative launched in January 2017 within the framework of Eastern Partnership.

Telling about the essence of the project, Oleh Levchenko, director of the Vinnytsia LGDC, noted: “The agreement on cooperation to form the basis of long-term joint work is now being signed at the initiative of two hromadas. This project provides EUR 560 thousand for two hromadas, the Barska and Severynivska AHs. These funds will be used for the restoration of historical sites, construction of new recreational ideas, as well as coordination of the union of agricultural producers of the fruit and berry sector, so that they create not only a fresh market, but also its processing. The main idea is to give incentives for AHs to develop.”

The project will focus not only on the cultivation and processing of apples. “Apple Path” is conceived as a tourist route, which will combine recreational and health improvement components. The Severynivska and Barska AHs will also host various brand festivals, tourist and other interesting events that promote the Vinnytsia Oblast.
