The five-day youth school DOBRE-LID: Leadership, Ideas and Democracy for youth leaders from partner hromadas of the United States Agency for International Development “Decentralisation Offering Better Results and Efficiency” (DOBRE) Programme took place in Kyiv on 27 February-2 March 2018.
The organisers selected 60 young activists from AHs of the Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Mykolayiv, Kherson, Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblasts on a competitive basis, who were able to reveal their leadership potential and change the lives of their hromadas for the better.
According to Oleksandr Yarema, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, no reform and transformation in Ukraine will take place without young leaders. “Communication with young people is important for us, regardless of where they live. It is fundamentally important to create a transparent model of youth participation in local decision-making,” said Deputy Minister at the opening of the school.
Barry Reed, Manager of the USAID DOBRE Programme, is convinced that today young people all over the world find opportunities by using communication and skills in social networks to have their voices heard.
