The Council of Europe plans to help the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast to implement the decentralisation reform. Such intentions were expressed during the meeting between Oleh Kuzhman, First Deputy Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration and Мårten Ehnberg, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine.
“We are currently developing a new cooperation plan between Ukraine and the Council of Europe. For us, it is a strategic document – we are developing specific projects on its basis. In the new plan we will focus on regional work. Decentralisation is one of the areas,” said Мårten Ehnberg. “The decentralisation reform is very successful in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. This direction needs to be further developed.”
57 hromadas have been already established in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, said Oleh Kuzhman.
“Amalgamations are already experiencing positive changes that have taken place after decentralisation. Hromadas build gardens, repair roads, renovate schools and hospitals. But they have even bigger plans for the future,” noted Oleh Kuzhman.
He added that the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast is grateful for the methodological and financial support of the Council of Europe.
