Hennadii Sumskyi, head of Tsarychanska amalgamated hromada: “Our hromada has become more capable, creative and active”

Our hromada took part in the Forum “3D: Decentralisation – Dnipropetrovsk – Deeds”, organised on 28-29 November 2017 by the Dnipropetrovsk Local Government Development Centre, established with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe programme. In the process of preparation for the Forum, the Dnipropetrovsk LGDC experts assisted us in analysing of the progress of our hromada Development Strategy implementation, and eventually we adopted a unanimous decision to become Forum speakers.

Why did we decide to present our Development Strategy? First of all, we did it, because in the course of hromada infrastructure development, our key task was to identify the real needs of the residents, see the hromada development plan in their eyes, and determine the priorities for implementing certain projects. Therefore, while creating the main strategic document of our territory development, we tried to involve as many hromada residents as possible in cooperation. People of different occupations, age, political views, and religious denomination offered their vision and made balanced decisions on the priorities and vectors of their settlements’ development. The strategy elaborated in this way reflects the interests of all citizens, and is therefore perceived by the hromada as “their personal one”. After all, the residents know the problems of the village better than anyone else.
