Askania regenerates… Story on how hromada uses sun, wind and water

About 100 thousand tourists from almost all corners of the Globe rush to the rural settlement every year to visit one unplowed steppe in the whole Europe, feel unique smell of herbs, see how the wild Przhevalsky horses or antelopes rush against the wind, just walk along the shady alleys of the world famous Friedrich Falz-Fein biosphere reserve “Askania-Nova” ...

The settlement itself is just a temporary “hashery” and night lodging for pilgrims.

It is possible to visit the Mykhaylo Ivanov “Askania-Nova” Ukrainian Scientific-Research Institute of Animal Husbandry of the Steppe Regions with the only in Ukraine National Scientific Selection and Genetic Sheep Breeding Centre. Though it is mainly for professionals.

Once the highest ranks of the state swore to give the centre green light for sheep breeding.

And what happened next? Neither light for the sheep, nor a normal road for people.
