The Central Elections Commission announced on the elections in 143 amalgamated territorial communities to be held on 18 December 2016. That decision was made due to the fact that the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament), and the Government of Ukraine devoted attention to the problem of the first elections in the amalgamated territorial communities. It was so reported by Vice-Prime Minister - Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko.

 "Earlier, the Central Elections Commission called elections in 41 amalgamated territorial communities on 11 December 2016. In one of them - the Kochubeivska community in Kherson region - the elections will be held for the second time. In the course of 2016, the elections have been already held in 25 communities. Thus, as of 1 January 2017, additional 209 amalgamated territorial communities will be able to enter into new inter-budgetary relations and obtain additional powers and resources. We obtained 159 amalgamated territorial communities in 2015. Hence, by the end of 2016, we will have 367 amalgamated territorial communities in total, which will be creating a territory of a high quality of life for its inhabitants.  Certainly, we would like that this indicator is higher, but we have already achieved the result showing prompt and meaningful changes for better that were initiated by the decentralisation reform. And this process is irreversible", Hennadii Zubko emphasised.
