On 23 September, the Central Election Commission, by its relevant resolution, scheduled the first election of members of councils and heads in 41 amalgamated territorial communities on Sunday, 11 December 2016. The Commission declared that the election process commences on 22 October 2016.

The Central Election Commission called elections in 41 amalgamated territorial communities after considering the results of processing of submissions filed by the Oblast Administrations subject to the chronological order or receipt of such submissions by the Commission.

After the said resolution was adopted, the Commission still has 150 pending applications of the Oblast State Administrations regarding the calling of local elections
