Government allocates UAH 500 million for purchase of school buses: Distribution among regions

The Government has allocated an additional UAH 500 million for the purchase of school buses, particularly for communities on the front line. These funds will be distributed to communities that require uninterrupted transport for children and school staff. Priority will be given to communities whose school buses have been transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, or have been destroyed or stolen as a result of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

This initiative does not require additional funding. Instead, the necessary funds have been allocated from the remaining educational subsidies in the special fund accounts of the state budget.

The distribution of additional subsidies (UAH 273 million allocated earlier and UAH 500 million additional) by region can be viewed at the link.

Earlier, UAH 1.873 billion was allocated for the purchase of buses in 2025, which, together with co-financing from local budgets, will enable the purchase of over 600 buses.

In Ukraine, all school transport is manufactured in accordance with localisation requirements. By 2025, at least 25 per cent of school transport will be locally manufactured, rising to 30 per cent by 2026. The requirement will then increase by 5 per cent each year until it reaches 40 per cent.

Purchasing school buses ensures that the primary task of transporting participants in the educational process to educational institutions is fulfilled, while also supporting Ukrainian manufacturers within the framework of the state policy ‘Made in Ukraine’.
