The Sumy Region Development Agency, with support from Switzerland as part of the UCORD project, has created a unique catalogue entitled ‘Cultural Profile of Sumy Region Communities,’ which includes cultural profiles of 27 communities. Work on the catalogue took almost a year. Finally, the authors are presenting a bilingual edition (in Ukrainian and English).

We have compiled this uniqueness in the catalogue ‘Cultural Profile of the Community’ not only to tell you about Sumy Region, but also to make you fall in love with it. This is a land where history is woven into embroidered patterns, and Krolevets towels have inspired the creation of six unique pictograms — symbols of modernity. Six pictograms, six meanings: intangible cultural heritage, cultural heritage, creative industries, cultural infrastructure, natural spaces, outstanding personalities,” say the authors of the catalogue.

The pages of the catalogue are the pulse of Sumy Region. From pysanka egg painting to architectural gems, from quiet forests to the voices of artists, from roots to mythical images.

This publication will be useful for communities, cultural managers, investors and anyone working on regional development. The cultural profile helps to better understand the identity of the community, enhance its tourist appeal and find new opportunities for economic and social growth.
