Konotop and Rzeszów became sister cities

The city of Rzeszów — the administrative capital of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship — twinned with Konotop, Ukraine. The Twinning Agreement was signed by Artem Semenikhin, Mayor of Konotop, and Konrad Fijołek, Mayor of Rzeszów.

This is reported by the Polish website RMF24.

“After the end of the war, the cities want to continue cooperation, mainly in the field of municipal administration. We see the great role of Rzeszów in the reconstruction of Ukraine,” said Kamil Czyż, Director of the Rzeszów Department of City Brands.

According to him, the work is ongoing to ensure that companies involved in the reconstruction of Ukraine have their headquarters in Rzeszów.

Artem Semenikhin, Mayor of Konotop, thanked our Polish friends for their support.

“Konotop is a sacred city for every Ukrainian and every Pole. In 1659, the allied army of Ukrainian Cossacks, Poles and Tatars obliterated the Muscowy army here,” said Artem Semenikhin.

Incidentally, Konotop is the sixth Ukrainian sister city of Rzeszów. Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lutsk, Chernihiv and Truskavets are also on this list.
