Sviatohirsk and Easton became sister cities

In March 2023, a new “Twin City” program was launched between Easton, Connecticut, USA and Sviatohirsk, Donetsk region. The program, which is run through Ukraine Aid International, aims to build strong relations between the two cities and provide much-needed aid and support to the war-affected residents of Sviatohirsk.

This was announced by Easton Mayor David Bindelglass:

"I am very pleased to tell you about our new sister city – Sviatohirsk. Although primarily we will be raising money for the needs of the city, we also hope to provide educational and cultural opportunities. This is an opportunity to support these incredibly brave people who have been through more than any of us could ever imagine. Under normal circumstances, they would probably be a lot like us, and showing our support is very much in line with who I believe we are as a city," David Bindelglass said in his statement on Easton's official website.

Before the full-scale armed invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine, Sviatohirsk was a tourist and pilgrimage center of Donetsk region. The troops of the Russian Federation almost completely destroyed Sviatohirsk.

In December of last year, the city of Lyman in Donetsk region and the city of Westport in the state of Connecticut, USA, established twin relations. Ukraine Aid International, with the help of our volunteer fleet of more than 25 automobiles, organizes the delivery of humanitarian aid to more than 100 front-line and de-occupied settlements.
