“Local Governments Unite for Welfare and Peace”: the International Marathon on March 31 will involve  municipalities of the countries of Southern Europe

 

The International Marathon “Local Governments Unite for Welfare and Peace” continues.

On March 31, a dialogue will take place between representatives of local government (including a number of “sister” municipalities) of the countries of Southern Europe and leaders of local governments from Ukraine. Foreign media are also invited to the dialogue.

Working languages: English, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian (simultaneous interpretation).

This will be the fourth marathon of the series. Previous events took place on March 18 and March 22, and March 29 with the participation of representatives of local governments from 20 countries: Poland, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Slovakia, Germany, the UK, Ireland, France, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden.

Moderator is Mr. Andrii KULYKOV, journalist.

The aim: to show the world the true face of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine and to strengthen the partnership between Ukrainian local governments and foreign partners.

Start at 11.00 (CET) / 12.00 (EET).

Ms Claudia LUCIANI, Director of the Directorate of Human Dignity, Equality and Governance, Council of Europe.

Mr Vitaliy KLYCHKO, President of the Association of Ukrainian Cities, Kyiv City mayor.

Mr Ihor TEREKHOV, Kharkiv City mayor, Chairman of Kharkiv regional branch of the Association of Ukrainian Cities, member of the board of the Association of Ukrainian Cities.

Mr Ivan FEDOROV, Melitopol City mayor, member of the Association of Ukrainian Cities.

Ms Halyna MINAEVA, Chuguiv City mayor (Kharkiv Oblast).

Mr Yevhen VELYCHKO, Voznesensk City mayor (Mykolaiv Oblast), member of the board of the Association of Amalgamated Hromadas.

Mr Ruslan MARTSINKIV, Ivano-Frankivsk City mayor, Chairman of Ivano-Frankivsk regional branch of the Association of Ukrainian Cities, member of the board of the Association of Ukrainian Cities.

Live broadcast on the Facebook pages of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, the Council of Europe Programme “Enhancing Decentralization and Public Administration Reform in Ukraine,”Decentralization,” the Association of Ukrainian Cities, and the Association of Amalgamated Hromadas.

The Marathon is initiated by the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

Partners are the Council of Europe Programme “Enhancing Decentralization and Public Administration Reform in Ukraine,” USAID Economic Resilience Activity, Swiss-Ukrainian project «Decentralization for Improved Democratic Education» (DECIDE), the Association of Ukrainian Cities, and the Association of Amalgamated Hromadas, Decentralization Portal.
