The MinRegion and DESPRO has continued cooperation in the sphere of decentralisation

The MinRegion and the Swiss-Ukrainian Project “Decentralisation Support in Ukraine” (DESPRO) agreed to continue the Project “Decentralisation Support in Ukraine” (DESPRO). The parties’ decision was confirmed with the appropriate agreement signing, taking place in Kyiv one of these days.

Vyacheslav Nehoda, Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine emphasized the project significance in achieving the goals of decentralization, being implemented in Ukraine.

«For all these years the MinRegion has been efficiently supported by the DESPRO project in performing the tasks of the complicated reform – the reform of the local self-government and territorial power arrangement, as well as power decentralisation. It is not an overestimation to say that the decentralisation progress, recognized to be the most successful in Ukraine, to a great extent depends on the DESPRO team proficiency. One of a few examples of the Swiss-Ukrainian Project support is an overall communication of decentralisation. If we were starting from 15% of the society trust to reform, today the rate is 80%. There is trust, so there is population support and, thus, there are efficiency and quality of its results implementation. The MinRegion is grateful to the Swiss party for its support and consistency. The continuation of cooperation with DESPRO allows to hope that decentralization will reach the tasks – qualitative and available services for people in each hromada, favourable conditions for the territories development and personal fulfilment», - said Vyacheslav Nehoda.
