According to the general rule of part 1 of article 18 of the Law of Ukraine On Local Self-Government Bodies Service, the age limit of serving at the local self-government bodies is 65. However, the same article stipulates an exception from the general rule – these restrictions do not apply to elected office holders of the self-government bodies.
Does this exception cover starostas?
By its status the post of a starosta is elective as it used to be but it has changed the employment procedure from election to a confirmation to a post.
Thus, currently the age limit for starostas serving at local self-government bodies is 65.
