On June, 15, 2020 the US Agency for International Development (USAID) announced a competitive selection of 25 hromadas for the participation in the USAID Programme “Decentralisation Offering Better Results and Efficiency” (DOBRE) in the press- centre of Ukraine Crisis Media Center. Hromadas of the Chernivtsi, Chernihiv and Zaporizhia regions can take part in the contest. The deadline for applications to be made is July, 20, 2020. The DOBRE Programme participation will allow hromadas to efficiently respond to citizens’ priorities thanks to proper resource management, utility service quality enhancement, the local economy boosting and the level of residents’ involvement increase.

 «For many years USAID has been a partner of Ukraine in improving the local self-government and ensuring better living conditions for Ukrainians. For several years we have been supporting the legislative and fiscal decentralisation. Currently we are working over new AHs in Ukraine within the DOBRE Programme, – claimed USAID Deputy Mission Director Susan Kutor, – As of today, USAID assistance is provided to 75 AHs of seven regions, housing 850000 residents. A lot of these hromadas have become paragons in the sphere of local self-government in Ukraine. We can see progress, made by these AHs. We have received a lot of enquiries from other AHs and regions concerning the USAID DOBRE Programme participation. And we have responded to them. So, it is a great pleasure for me to announce today that USAID will provide additional $17 million of the DOBRE Programme for the purpose of enforcing efforts aimed at cooperating with 25 AHs more in 3 new target regions: the Chernivtsi, Chernihiv and Zaporizhia regions. The number of AHs assisted by USAID will rise to 100. Moreover, DOBRE will start supporting the development of certain provisions initiatives at the national level. We are aiming at making decentralization a ubiquitous reality in Ukraine».
