The European Union, jointly with partners, developed a set of reform support programmes for Ukraine, including decentralization support programme. The statement was made during the Lviv meeting of Lviv oblast state administration Head, Oleg Synyutka, and Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Berend de Groot. 

According to the press-service of Lviv OSA, during the meeting the parties discussed the issues concerning support of reforms of local self-government and territorial organization of authority. 

According to Berend de Groot, European Union, jointly with its partners, including the US, has already developed a set of programmes, targeted at support of reforms in Ukraine. Consequently, Ukraine in general, and Lviv oblast in particular can count on this support.

The Head of Lviv oblast state administration Oleg Synyutka, in his turn, stressed the need for the most active support of the already-formed amalgamated communities and for assisting them in their economic activities.

“It is also appropriate to demonstrate all the advantages of decentralization on the positive example of the newly-formed communities”, he said. At the same time, he noted that, to facilitate decentralization support, it was necessary to interact with communities and explain all the advantages of decentralization process to the public.

Also, according to the Head of OSA, the time has come for formation and development of infrastructure of Lviv oblast in view of the changes, which are to be witnessed in the region after the reform.
