The process of hromadas’ accession to cities of oblast significance, including oblast centres, that got an opportunity to become amalgamated hromadas, has begun in Ukraine. These are new development opportunities - to strengthen hromadas’ human resources, develop infrastructure, informed Hennadii Zubko, Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, at the Governmental meeting.

“Today, 26 cities of oblast significance have an opportunity to become AHs. These are Khmilnyk, Dobropillya, Kostyantynivka, Mariupol, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Novohrodivka, Selidove (Donetsk Oblast), Berdychiv, Korosten, Malyn, Novohrad Volynskyi, Berdyansk, Kolomyia, Lviv, Chervonohrad, Ternopil, Berezhany, Kupyansk, Lozova, Slavuta, Starokonstyantyniv, Kamyanets-Podilskyi, Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi. Zhytomyr has become the first oblast centre to establish an AH. I congratulate everyone!” said Hennadii Zubko.

Today, the Government has introduced changes to perspective plans for the formation of hromadas of the Zaporizhzhia, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblasts.

As it is known, 45 suburban hromadas have already used the mechanism of accession of village, settlement councils to cities of oblast significance. They joined 20 cities of oblast significance. 10 village and settlement councils joined the city of Lozova; 5 village councils accessed the city of Rzhyshchiv; the cities of Varash, Vinnytsia, Voznesensk, Hadyach, Zhytomyr, Nova Kakhovka, Novgorod-Siverskyi, Novodnistrovsk, Slavuta, Shostka, Novohrad-Volynskyi, Nizhyn were joined by 1 village and settlement council each; Berezan adjoined 5 village councils; Kolomyia and Ternopil – 4 village councils each; the city of Bucha was accessed by 3 village councils.
