UKRAINE’S COHESION & REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT, UCORD
The Ukraine’s Cohesion & Regional Development Project, UCORD, focuses on transforming the governance structures and building the capacity of Ukrainian regional development agencies, so that they can lead and facilitate recovery, identify priorities, and build partnerships to design and deliver projects enabling regions to reach their potential.
The project is implemented with support of Switzerland via Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) by NIRAS Sweden AB. The UCORD project is currently in its first phase, which began in December 2022 and will continue until November 2026. The project is designed for three 4-year phases with a total duration of 12 years.
The objective of the UCORD project is that ‘Citizens, businesses and public authorities contribute to and equally benefit from coordinated recovery actions and coherent regional development that fosters improved quality of life, resilience, peace and social cohesion in Ukraine.’
Project phase 1 consists of the three main components
Component 1 embeds the regional policy development in Ukraine through supporting and strengthening the Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) in pilot oblasts
Component 2 seeks to improve public services delivery in WASAW (water supply, sanitation,
and waste management) sector with a focus on environment
Component 3 aims at constructing social cohesion through culture, dialogue and creative industries
PILOT PARTNER REGIONS
As a result of a rigorous selection process, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Ternopil, and Vinnytsia oblasts became the project's pilot partner regions. The UCORD project now supports RDAs of each region.
