Participatory budget is a possibility for every resident to take part in allocation of local budget funds through creation of projects aimed at improvement of the life in the city, village or amalgamated hromada. Everyone can suggest his/her project or idea and support them by voting.
In June, two hromadas of the Chernihiv Oblast selected the winners of their participatory budget competitions, informs the Chernihiv Local Government Development Centre, established with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme and MinRegion of Ukraine.
According to the Koryukivka City Council, the voting of hromada residents for the projects that claimed to be implemented through public budgeting finished on 20 June. Pursuant to the results of the voting, two projects of Naumivka residents gained the victory. The first project – “Mriya” Park – involves installation of street lights along the parkway in the village centre, as well as arrangement of the park benches, swing sofas and garbage bins. The second project involves the creation of a sports ground with training equipment, restoration of the football ground and modernisation of the runway in Naumivka.
