The first mini-hydro power station in the oblast was put into operation in Vasylkivka of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, informed Valentyn Reznichenko, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration.

"The project was implemented exclusively at the expense of the investor from Ukraine with the support of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration. The mini-HPP is built on the site of the old collective-farm hydroelectric power station, abandoned about 60 years ago and slowly destroyed," said Valentyn Reznichenko.

The projectwas launched a year ago and was implemented at the expense of the Ukrainian investor. The volume of investments reached UAH 6 million. As early as on 1 April, the mini-HPP in Vasylkivka began to work in a test mode. The station generates 130 kW per hour; it is connected to the Dniprooblenergo networks.

Electricity enters the common network. In case of an emergency power outage, all budgetary institutions - kindergartens, schools, hospitals, in general 15 facilities - in Vasylkivka will be supplied with energy from the new hydro power station. According to the head of the Oblast State Administration, the mini-HPP will serve about 17 thousand residents of the Vasylkivska AH.

"The hromada will receive an uninterrupted power supply, new jobs and additional revenues to the budget. This is decentralisation initiated by President Petro Poroshenko, and we, as his team, will continue to assist hromadas and investors in implementing such projects," said the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
