The Ministry of Health and the Canadian-Ukrainian Foundation announce a contest for the family doctors working in the village to participate in a three-day emergency healthcare training course for rural hospitals conducted by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary, Canada.
The course students will obtain relevant knowledge on clinical topics important for the family doctors working in rural areas.
The course consists of plenary lectures, interactive group exercises and advanced professional training.
The participants will study the best practices, recommendations, tools and methods of work with urgent patients – from the pre-hospital to hospital stage of healthcare provision within urgent conditions in rural emergency departments.
The course will be held on 19-21 January 2018 in the province of Alberta, Canada. For more information, we add a last year curriculum programme, that will be updated to the 2018 programme as soon as it is published.
The flight from Kyiv to Calgary is scheduled for 17 January 2018 with return to Kyiv on 24 January 2018.
In addition to training, the Ukrainian doctors will visit hospitals and meet with doctors who practice family medicine in Calgary.
Whom is this course for?
It is for the family doctors working in rural areas. Applicants must have at least one year of work experience in the village.
How to take part in the contest and join the course:
Applicants must submit a resume and a short (up to 300 words) motivation letter in English, where they should explain: 1) why they want to participate in the training course “Emergency Medicine for Rural Hospitals”, 2) how this course will change their practice, 3) how they will share the acquired knowledge among colleagues. Every resume has to be supplemented with a diploma in medical education from a Ukrainian higher medical institution.
The application for participation in the contest with all related documents must be sent to the email phcukr@gmail.com by the end of the working day (18:00) on 24 November 2017. “Emergency Medicine for Rural Hospitals” should be specified in the e-mail subject. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Terms of the contest:
A short list of applicants will be compiled on the basis of resumes and motivation letters, who will be invited to an English interview via Skype. These candidates must provide a letter of recommendation from the chief physician or health department representative in their region to confirm their medical practice.
The Canadian-Ukrainian Foundation covers:
- the cost of the training course;
- international flights and domestic transfers in Canada;
- accommodation;
- the cost of a Canadian visa;
- meals.
Applicants must have a valid or receive a new foreign passport. Applicants are required to obtain a Canadian visa on their own, the cost of which will be reimbursed to them. The Canadian-Ukrainian Foundation will provide a letter of support explaining the purpose of the trip and financial guarantees.
