On 17 November, the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine adopted a law on decentralisation of the road facilities management system, which law provides for the handing over of the management of secondary roads from the competence of the State Agency for Motor Roads of Ukraine under the management of local authorities.

Presenting draft law No. 0954 on amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the reform of public motor roads management system at the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament), Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on transport Yaroslav Dubnevych noted that the law will become effective as of 1 January 2018 together with the law on establishment of the road fund, which law had been adopted by the Parliament a few hours earlier.
