The U-LEAD with Europe Programme is quickly launching additional support to Chernihiv Secondary School No. 3, which was damaged by a Russian missile attack on the city center on Saturday.
“U-LEAD urgently responds to the request of the affected secondary school No. 3 in Chernihiv and is in contact with the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments of the European Commission and the school's management to outline support for the repair of the institution,” says the announcement of the U-LEAD with Europe.
Currently, the school premises are damaged and many windows are broken.
"In particular, the Programme intends to assist the school in replacing windows, which are currently very expensive and in short supply on the market due to general demand," U-LEAD said.
In May, U-LEAD with Europe launched the Local Schools Rehabilitation for Resilience initiative to provide concrete support to selected war-affected municipalities by funding their individual approaches to restoring access to education. The project is part of the School Initiative of U-LEAD with Europe.
Chernihiv School No. 3 was involved in this process. In the spring, the institution hosted a high-level delegation from the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments of the European Commission and impressed the guests with its innovative approach, safe spaces for children, digitalization and creativity.
