“300 million dollars will be mobilized for the needs of the Municipality Recovery Fund,” Oleksandr Kubrakov

The Municipality Recovery Fund is a key step towards long-term municipalities recovery and sustainability.

About this in his column for NV, Deputy Prime Minister for the recovery of Ukraine, Minister of development of municipalities, territories and infrastructure, Oleksandr Kubrakov writes.

Before Ukraine Recovery Conference, Deputy Prime Minister and UN System Coordinator in Ukraine Denise Brown discussed the implementation of a joint approach to the recovery of Ukraine at the municipality level, which provides for the creation of the Fund.

“Its priorities will be the recovery of housing, critical and social infrastructure, as well as humanitarian mine clearance and support for local businesses. It is expected to mobilize 300 million dollars for the needs of the Fund during the next 5 years. The initial funding is 50 million dollars,” wrote Oleksandr Kubrakov.

In the article, he also noted that successful recovery is impossible without continuing the decentralization reform.

“We understand that today many municipalities do not have the capacity to cope with challenges on their own. Our goal is to provide all the necessary institutional, financial and advisory support to strengthen municipalities. To do this, we are already creating a regional structure of support teams that will help municipalities cope with the challenges of recovery.”
