Amalgamated Communities Already Have 175 Infrastructure Projects Which May Be Implemented for Account of a Government Subsidy

On 30 May, the Ministry of Regional Development has considered 79 additional applications for infrastructure projects to be implemented for account of a government subsidy filed by 18 amalgamated communities. It is planned to channel UAH 97 million of government support for those projects.

So said Director of the Department for Local Self-Government and Organising Territorial Form of Government of the Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine Serhii Sharshov during the second meeting of the Commission for the examination of applications filed by executive committees of councils of the amalgamated communities for projects which may be implemented for account of funds of a government subsidy for the formation of infrastructure of the amalgamated territorial communities.

"In general, 37 amalgamated communities already have 175 applications for infrastructure projects in the total amount of UAH 209 million approved by the Commission, which projects will be implemented for account of the relevant subsidy. With respect to some applications, the Commission has observations regarding both the projects in whole and their technical aspects. All discrepancies of technical nature should be removed within a few days. Hence, in the nearest future, the communities will be able to start implementing projects required for the improvement of services at the local level", Serhii Sharshov noted.

According to him, at its second meeting, the Commission examined applications for projects filed by the amalgamated communities from 10 Oblasts: Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zakarpatska, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, Odesa, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv.

As it was reported, on 23 May 2016, at its first meeting, the Commission examined 111 applications for projects which may be implemented for account of a government subsidy for the development of infrastructure, in the total amount of approximately UAH 120 million, which applications were filed by the amalgamated communities from seven Oblasts.

It is a reminder that the State Budget provides for a subsidy in the amount of UAH 1 billion to the amalgamated territorial communities for the development of infrastructure in 2016. The subsidy funds will be distributed among 159 amalgamated communities in accordance with the clear formula which takes into account the number of rural population and the area of the community. Starting from UAH 960 thousand for the smallest amalgamated community and up to UAH 23 million for the largest one.
