Today, the Government adopted a decision concerning female councillors who perform their duties on a voluntary basis. From now on, they will be permitted to cross the state border without hindrance during martial law.
Earlier, even during their legally permitted holiday leave, female councillors were unable to leave Ukraine to visit their families or deliver aid to the military. This hindered their ability to volunteer and forced some elected representatives to resign.
‘The new decision removes these restrictions. We want female councillors to remain active and continue developing their communities,’ emphasised Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.
These changes apply to female councillors at all levels of local self-government, except those who receive a salary for their work in local governments.
